The 2026 programme

What ran on the island

Phuket’s Songkran is shorter than Chiang Mai’s or Pattaya’s: the official festival ran for three days, 11 to 13 April 2026, and most of the island’s events fell on the 13th.

Malls and beach clubs add their own parties. In 2025 these included a no-alcohol Songkran at Limelight, a beach music festival at Blue Tree Phuket, a water festival at Mix Mall Rawai Beach and a splash party at Boat Lagoon and Central Phuket (being checked).

Rules and safety

Playing safely in Phuket

If you want Songkran without the drinking, Phuket Town’s festival on Dibuk Road was alcohol-free in 2026 (being checked). In Patong, police patrolled Bangla Road against pickpockets (being checked).

Don’t splash monks, drivers or riders, and keep the water gentle. National rules and fines are in our water fight guide.

Skip the scooter
Songkran 2026’s seven danger days saw 242 road deaths across Thailand, and motorcycles were in 64.55% of accidents on the last day (Road Safety Command Center via Thai PBS). Take a taxi or Grab instead of a scooter.

Seal your phone and passport
Bangla Road is packed on the 13th. A waterproof pouch on a lanyard keeps both dry and close.

Plan for the heat
The normal April high on the southern west coast is 34.2 °C. Splash, rest in the shade, drink water.

Medical emergency
