Days off
Is Songkran 2027 a long weekend?
Not on its own. The holidays run Tuesday to Thursday, so they do not join a weekend (Bank of Thailand notice 37/2569). 2026 was easier: Monday to Wednesday gave five days in a row, Saturday 11 to Wednesday 15 April.
The cabinet has added bridge days in some recent years. For 2027 none has been approved (checked 18 Oct 2026). If one comes, Monday 12 or Friday 16 April are the obvious days. A bridge day covers government offices; private employers decide for themselves (being checked).
We will update this page the day a bridge day is announced, and email the alert list.

The Thai calendar
Maha Songkran day and the 2027 Nang Songkran
Songkran follows the sun moving into Aries. The public holiday is always 13 April, but the astronomical Maha Songkran day moves a little. By the Thai calendar for 2570 (2027) it falls on Wednesday 14 April 2027 (myhora Thai calendar 2570) (being checked).
Each year one of the seven daughters of Kabil Maha Phrom is named Nang Songkran, and the weekday of Maha Songkran day decides which one. A Wednesday means Nang Mandathewi. The official Songkran announcement for 2027 has not been published, so treat this as expected, not confirmed.
2026 was Nang Raksotsa (Raksasadevi), for a Tuesday Maha Songkran.
Weekday of Maha Songkran → Nang Songkran
Sunday → Thungsa
Monday → Khorakha
Tuesday → Raksotsa 2026
Wednesday → Mandathewi 2027, expected
Thursday → Kirini
Friday → Kimitha
Saturday → Mahothon

Songkran 2027: questions people ask
When is Songkran 2027?
The national holidays are Tuesday 13, Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 April 2027 (Bank of Thailand notice 37/2569, Royal Gazette 25 August 2026). Many cities start water play a day or two earlier, and Pattaya’s Wan Lai usually comes several days after.
Is Songkran 2027 a long weekend?
Not on its own. The three holidays fall Tuesday to Thursday and do not touch a weekend. With Monday 12 and Friday 16 April as leave, you get nine days off in a row, Saturday 10 to Sunday 18 April.
Will there be an extra holiday for Songkran 2027?
None has been announced. As of mid-September 2026 the cabinet had approved no special bridge days for 2027, and we found no change when we checked on 18 Oct 2026. Bridge days apply to government offices; private employers decide for themselves.
Are banks closed for Songkran 2027?
Yes. 13, 14 and 15 April 2027 are bank holidays under Bank of Thailand notice 37/2569. Friday 16 April is a normal working day unless a bridge day is added.
When do S2O 2027 tickets go on sale?
S2O has not announced 2027 yet. In 2026 it ran 11 to 13 April at S2O Land on Ratchadaphisek Road in Bangkok. Leave your email at the bottom of this page and we will tell you when tickets are announced.
Who is Nang Songkran 2027?
The official announcement has not been published. By the traditional rule, a Wednesday Maha Songkran day means Nang Mandathewi, and the Thai calendar puts Maha Songkran 2027 on Wednesday 14 April. We will confirm it when the announcement is out.
